Coventry Transport Museum has announced TV motoring personality and host of Discovery Channel’s Wheeler Dealers Mike Brewer as the President of the museum’s new Patron Scheme. As President, Mike will work with the museum to raise its national and international profile and further develop its network of supporters and patrons.
Mike, who lives in Warwickshire despite spending half of the year filming in California, was invited by Chief Executive Gary Hall on a recent private tour, his first museum visit since the £9.5 million redevelopment.
“The museum is stunning in every way,” said Mike. “Not only in its amazing exhibits but the way it tells the story of Coventry’s rich transport heritage. I am proud and extremely honoured to become the President of the Patron Scheme and delighted to support this fantastic tribute to British motoring.”
True to his word, Mike kicked off his support by driving his 1976 Porsche 912E to the Museum’s final ‘Cars & Coffee’ morning of 2016, held on Saturday 8th October.
Gary Hall said: “We are extremely pleased that Mike accepted our invitation to become President. Our recently launched Patron Scheme will enable us to network with car and motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world as either Members, Patrons or Benefactors of the museum. We are therefore looking forward to working with Mike as we further develop the benefits of becoming a member of the scheme”
Coventry Transport Museum has recently undergone a £9.5 million redevelopment where all of its exhibition spaces have been completely transformed to showcase the key role that Coventry played in the development of the transport industry worldwide and how it is still shaping what the future of transport might look like.
