Mike and Ant square off in a #ClassicRumble for charity

Lancaster Insurance is thrilled to announce a new initiative for 2017 with two classic car ‘heavyweights’, Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead, going head to head for charity. The two restoration experts will each be restoring/building a car that will be auctioned, through Silverstone Auctions, at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show in November, with the proceeds going to the charity of their choice.

Both projects were launched on the Lancaster Insurance stand at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show in a #ClassicRumble. In the blue corner stands a 1989 Ford Escort XR3i which Mike Brewer and his team will be restoring, whilst in the red corner is a 1950’s Grand Prix race car replica that Ant and his team will be building from scratch!

Mike said: “It’s always a delight getting the chance to bring a classic car back to life and to do it for charity in conjunction with Lancaster Insurance makes this build even more special. I’ve chosen an everyman car that I hope will have huge appeal and with the right team behind the project I know we can raise some much needed funds for the Marie Crawford Boyd Foundation!”

Ant commented: “Being able to combine two things I am passionate about is a no brainer for me! I get to build a car and at the same time help Harrison’s Fund, a charity which is very close to my heart. Oh, and battle off against Mike Brewer! Wait that’s three things I love! Oh this just gets better. Lancaster Insurance has just become the ultimate match maker… bring it on!”

The journey of both cars will be exclusively covered in Classics Monthly and the completed cars will then head for the final auction ‘showdown’ in November. The ultimate aim is to raise funds for two incredibly worthwhile causes, Harrison’s Fund and The Marie Crawford Boyd Foundation, who will each benefit from the sale of their respective ambassadors incredible car; meaning whatever the outcome, both are winners.

Richard Morley, Operations Director for Lancaster Insurance comments: “We’re delighted to be bringing two of the biggest stars in the classic car industry together for this fantastic charity initiative. Mike and Ant are the perfect ‘combination’ and both projects reflect their passion and expertise seamlessly. We’re hoping to raise an incredible amount for these wonderful causes at the final round in November and can’t wait to see whose car will be the champion.”
