HE’S GOTTA HAVE IT!
Mike had so much fun fronting a series about celebrities and their gadgets, called He’s Gotta Have It
Over two series on the Discovery Channel in 2003/4, Mike interviewed the likes of rugby player Will Carling, cricketing legend Geoff Boycott, boxers Prince Nazem Hamed and Chris Eubank, and football hero John Barnes about the gadgets they owned and obsessed over.
Mike had his own game show called Remote Madness that ran for one series.
It’s was a game show that was saw radio-controlled craft racing each other over obstacles. Teams competed against each other racing remote controlled mini cars, boats and helicopters.
CELEBRITY WHEELCHAIR CHALLENGE
In 2002, Mike was thrilled to be asked to present Channel Four’s flagship programme about overcoming disability in Britain called Celebrity Wheelchair Challenge.
The programme saw Gaby Roslin, Tanya Strecker and Sean Hughes travel from Edinburgh to London in a wheelchair.
This was a pioneering show, which attracted huge ratings for Channel Four, and was a departure for Mike from the motoring type of programmes he normally presents.
Back in 2005, Mike hosted a brand new show called House Race!
Over six shows, two teams raced against each to build a house at the Bullring in Birmingham. The winning team got to keep the house. This was way before the Bullring had been redeveloped and Selfridges arrived…so we’ve no idea what has happened to the house since then!
